Martha Stewart does not live here.

I'd rather be watching The Golden Girls.

If you only had 5 words to describe your life, what would those words be? Explain.

resplendent — My life is full of color.  I despise white walls and dreary living spaces.  My walls are full of graphic and vivid posters from around the world.  If it’s not pleasing to look at, I don’t want it in my home.  I love having twenty pillows and the softest of Egyptian cotton on my bed, my throne.  Without dazzling treats for the senses, I tend to grow exceptionally jaded.

spontaneous — I’m that person.  The spontaneous one who calls you up to invite you on a random trip to Minnesota at two in the morning, initiates a game of hide and seek in Walmart, and takes the wrong turn on purpose.  My friends always remark (and sometimes scoff) at my spontaneity.  I can easily drop everything in an instant to follow a whim and often do.

stressless — I never get stressed.  I always encounter people with frazzled hair and tired eyes, claiming to “be stressed out.”  I’m not to sure what they mean by that.  I think it’s a matter of outlook.  I can turn any distress into eustress simply by asking myself, “When I’m eighty year old, smoking a pipe on my front porch, watching the seasons change, am I really going to care about that missed assignment?”  The answer is no, so why should I worry about it now?  Perhaps it’s that I just happen to live a very simple life compared to others, but I’m not convinced.

technologically-devoid — I seem to repel technology recently … computers, cell phones, iPods, what-have-you.  I only use such devices when absolutely necessary (read: homework and the like).  I have no cell phone, and I constantly receive flak from others for it.  It seems I’m in a shrinking minority.  Facebook is so very foreign to me, and I don’t ever want to pick up an iPad.  Call me crazy, but, for me at least, life is so much simpler sans technology.

musical — Music is my meditation.  I can’t go a single day without playing music of some kind.  I don’t mean playing a stereo or the like (though I do that as well), but I mean practicing an instrument.  I’ve played in an orchestra for ten years, and I get great enjoyment out of doing so.  Instead of jumping on Facebook, I’d much rather practice that Bach flute sonata, rehearse that Joplin rag on the piano, or simply strum my ukulele until it’s out of tune.  My life would be so different without music.
