No, I really don’t. Nor does anyone. The best part of the riddle is that it’s not even meant to have an answer. There’s something to be said about that, a riddle with no answer. It’s sort of like a tree with no roots or a book without words: it just doesn’t make sense. Those are my favorite moments in life, the ones that don’t make sense. You know the ones. The times where situations uncannily fit together: you run into that friend you were just thinking about or randomly see those shoes for sale that you can’t find anywhere else. It’s these random prods of incomprehensibility that keep me going, these random glimmers of coincidence that inspire me to think about the possibility of a grand design. When I’m bored to tears and about to shove a rusty railroad spike through my head, I just ask myself: “why is a raven like a writing desk?”
